Welcome to My Blog.
Hi, I’m Moira (rhymes with “Cora”) and I recently left thirty-three years of employment to focus on writing and self-publishing my first novel. I’m high on life as I face this exciting new adventure while ignoring the image in my head of an hourglass trickling money instead of sand.
I live in Lynden, Washington with my seventeen-year-old cat, Trudy, who finds life tolerable as long as she’s lavished with attention every waking moment. Yes, there’s a picture above, but no image can adequately convey the adorableness. We share my mother’s home with her and her dog, Dexter.
I’m the author of books for parents and teachers of young children which, while out of print, are still sold all over the Internet and the world.
Who am I thinking about as I write this blog? Readers who enjoy the kind of novel I’m writing. Cat lovers and critter lovers in general. People who are interested in Ancient Egypt and historical fiction. Creatives who want to feel more alive — if they can just get out of bed. People who think about how human nature shapes our commercial system and wonder if either can be improved. Folks who believe that people are animals too and regard that statement as common sense, not something radical. But what do these groups have in common? Such a diverse bunch flies in the face of all that is holy about successful blogging. One is supposed to identify a niche audience and focus on it with discipline. How can I possibly ace SEO? How can I conceivably solve the keyword conundrum? I am possibly, as Ed Grimley would say, as doomed as doomed can be. Ah, well (!)
